PEDIATRIC EYE CARE

Your Child’s First Visit

When you bring your kids into Palm City Eye Care, we make sure that they feel comfortable and welcome from the moment they step in the door. We don’t want a visit to the optometrist to be a scary experience. Dr. Davis and his team realize that the habits that children build early can stick with them for the rest of their life. Getting their eyes checked on a regular schedule can help them perform better in school, in sports, dance and other activities. It can also catch potential problems before they become serious.
#AskDrDavis: When should a child's first eye exam be?

In this week's #AskDrDavis, we tackle when a child should come in for their first eye exam, what it entails, and what an appropriate schedule is over the first few years.

Eye Exams for Kids

We usually see several young kids per day at Palm City Eye Care. The eye exams for kids under five are usually a little different than the ones we give to mom (including Dr. Davis wearing some fun props). They're still just as effective, though! Learn how we take a different approach with our youngest patients.

Young Children Visiting

Often when you think of eye exams, you may visualize the optometrist asking the patient questions to better understand what they’re seeing. At Palm City Eye Care, we have the tools to make sure that young children get the same comprehensive care, without all the questions. Not only is it tougher for our youngest patients to tell us what’s going on, but we also understand they can have active imaginations. That’s why we take a scientific approach to make sure that we get an accurate analysis.

Optical Solutions

If we discover that your child needs corrective lenses, our on-site optical allows Palm City Eye Care to be a one-stop shop for your eyewear needs. Not only can we assess what the right solutions are for your child’s needs, but we can outfit them with stylish and effective eyewear that will get them excited about the change. We can tell you whether contacts or glasses might be the right fit, describe how to care for and maintain your child’s lenses and offer sun protection solutions for the outdoor lifestyle of the Treasure Coast.
